Representative Bob Good (R-VA-05) blasted his predecessor, Denver Riggleman, for endorsing Representative Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-07) for re-election.
“This is a marriage made in heaven,” Good said on The John Fredericks Show. “I have not, in two years, talked about my predecessor, but I’ll do that this morning a little bit. Abigail Spanberger has been a fraud from the very beginning. She ran as a moderate, she voted as a leftist.”
“Furthermore, if anyone cared who Denver Riggleman would endorse at this point – Denver Riggleman has been a fraud from the beginning,” Good said.
Spanberger is running against Republican nominee Yesli Vega; Vega and her Republican supporters are criticizing Spanberger and the reputation she’s built as a moderate who occasionally bucks party leadership. This week, Riggleman endorsed Spanberger, appearing in her latest ad, titled “Bipartisan.”
“She’s trying to change Congress and make it work, and she’s ranked the most bipartisan member of Congress from Virginia, and fifth in the country,” Riggleman states in the ad. “In the CIA, Abigail worked counterterrorism. She puts country first. That’s why I support Abigail.”
Good hasn’t held back his criticism of Spanberger, including after an incident where she cursed at him for comments he made about Democrats and transgender policy and schools.
Good primaried Trump-endorsed Riggleman after he officiated a gay wedding, leading to rumors that the nominating convention, held at Good’s church, was arranged to oust Riggleman. On the radio Wednesday, Good criticized Riggleman for running as a pro-Trump candidate in that race.
“About five minutes later, he turns on Trump and he reveals to everyone else the fraud that we knew he was, and he begins to attack Trump, and he’s done that now for two years,” Good said.
“Furthermore, John, as you know, he’s attacked everyone and anyone who has questioned the results of the 2020 presidential elections. He said that’s conspiratorial, that’s QAnon; there’s no evidence of that. But yet he still maintains two years later that the only crooked election in the history of the United States was the 5th district nominating process where he lost and got drowned two years ago. He’s been a fraud. Nobody cares,” he said.
